I watched 'Charlie X' today, and happened to catch Janice Rand in a pink, one shouldered long toga type outfit as she was relaxing in her quarters. Surprisingly, I thought it looked quite nice. Even Kirk's gym outfit, which made me laugh, was not so very different from today's yoga pants. Take off the stocking feet, put some cuffs on the legs and it would be contemporary. Got to give Shatner a credit for being the consummate actor on that one. The stocking feet are a kill.
Speaking of outdated fashion trends, remember the outfits in TNG that were just plain weird? For instance that "skant" thing that some of the crew, including Troi, wore? Everytime I see that, it reminds me of culottes worn in late 60s and skorts that resurfaced in the 1990s. Then they put Troi in those silly bunny suits and low cut dresses. I guess that's supposed to make the crew more comfortable when they visit with her?
