I like all of the episodes including this one, but although it was entertaining, missing it would not keep a viewer from following the story. (I liked Lover Boy better as a goat.)
Someone else on this thread mentioned being surprised to see the Reaper fall on his knees when Captain Renard showed his authority as a royal. I was, too. Didn't recall that being part of the scene. But Renard showed his deftness with a scythe alright; useful skill come harvesting time. Anyway, nothing like having your eared thrown at you to drive a lesson home. Like many others, that probably was my favorite part of the episode.
