I just discovered this thread. Its nice when someone one adds something to a thread so it comes alive again. Thanks Sam.
So, lets recap, you guys want a period piece, or a dream sequence, or a throwback (film noir), or a flashback. or a prequel. Did i leave anything out. Gosh, you guys want just about everything a show that has run too long uses to revive itself. Actually, i don't think i'm being fair. Star Trek Next Generation used all those things just cause they thought it was fun. And Community did all those things as self-parody. oh wait, we can take a page out of the Community playbook and do a dream sequence with puppets!
Oh wait, you forgot the musical episode. Grey's anatomy, Buffy, Scrubs, The 70s show, and Community all did a musical episode.
But to be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing any or all of those ideas come to life.
But I'm not rooting for a musical episode.
The "historical throwback" would be tough. A lot of the Grimm's fairy tales have all ready been portrayed on the big screen. There was even a Grimm Brothers monster hunter film. It would be hard to keep the script original and not derivative.
Also all those ideas are expensive. I think I'd rather see them keep spending money on make up and special effects.
