Anyone else watch Louis Suarez bite another player today? 3rd time in his career he's bit someone... Even if there was a good reason to bite someone, which there isn't, he seems to do this with little or no provocation. I said it elsewhere last time he did this and I'll say it here this time. This guy deserves to be kicked out of professional football for this. there is no place in any sport for this type of repeated offense. It;s just unacceptable.
Something else: One of the things that's very wrong with football/soccer it diving and lazy play... One of the people that embodies this for me is Christiano Renaldo, who some of you saw play for Portugal. This is a man who, if he'd stop being a premadonna and play some freakin defense and stop falling down every time someone touches his could be one of the all time best in the game. Even with his flaws he is one of the best players playing today. As it is Renaldo is a difference maker, but you only seem to notice him 4 or 5 times a game when he decides it's the right time to actually do something. Other lesser players have much more of an impact and are much more fun to watch because they actually have to work to be great... Thoughts? End rant here is film of the latest Suarez incident http://www.cbssports.com/world-cup/eye-o...y-defender

You do know playing defensively, is against Ronaldo's religion. I saw this whilst watching him play for Manchester United.
You'll never get diving out of the game until the governing bodies back the referees and the 4th officials to take appropriate action for such unfair play. Whilst it is tacitly accepted by the powers that be then nothing will change. However, if players are sent off, even if the initial incident is missed by the referee and assistants, the 4th official should be allowed to pass a message to the referee after video footage review if necessary. Also severe penalties should be imposed after the fact for ungentlemanly play, then you will see a shift football. As a Liverpool fan, Suarez is a footballing legend on Merseyside he has helped to turn round the fortunes of my team. He was given a chance after the last biting incident and seemed to have become a reformed character. However if the incident is shown to be true then I have to concur with your evaluation of his punishment. He should be kicked out of professional football in any capacity, an example needs to be made to show other player and more importantly the children that idolize these sports stars, that there are rules and if you fail to abide by them then the consequences are severe. It is so sad that such a talented footballer is plagued by such a poor level of self control.

Also, I have family that are big fans of Liverpool so I do have a place in my heart for the Reds (be it a small one . However my heart, when it comes to English football, is firmly Blue. Yes Chelsea won my heart when I first began watching. One of the first things I do when looking at a new league or sport to pick who to like is to look at the best team. When I was first getting in to the EPL, this was of course Man U. So, not knowing anything else about the league I began watching matches to see who would be the first to oust the them in a match after I started watching, this would be my team! It was Chelsea and Didier Drogba who won my heart! It was such a heartbreak to see Man City win out over my beloved Blues (as well as your Reds) this last season. It should be interesting year indeed this coming year. Back to discussion about Suarez I totally empathize with the pain Reds fans must be going though at seeing such a talent take such actions. I can't imagine how I would have felt if Drogba were to do such things. I know I would be disillusioned and dismayed. Footballers and other high profile athletes around the world have such an impact on the youth that they must be held accountable for at minimum their on field actions.

I agree completely with you, we live in a world where celebrities of every stripe are allowed to get away with murder both figuratively and literally. And the truly sad thing is the media promote these people as role models for our children. As i get older I really lament the trend our society is taking, perhaps at some point sanity will take hold and the real hero's of this world will be promoted; doctors, nurses, teachers, soldiers, carers, those who give of themselves to improve ours and societies lot in life.

I've planned to stay in the chat the whole match, sorry, it's not possible. I watch the game in hospital with a friend of ours so he doesn't has to watch it alone.
Tini little screen and cheering is forbidden Hope it will be a good match!

Just got home after watching the first half on Fountain Square here in Cincinnati. I personally have never seen a crowd this large for a soccer match here in the US. You can see a short video clip here if anyone is interested:
http://www.local12.com/news/features/top...3648.shtml Lots of beer drinking going on. Think a lot of people won't be going back to work after their "lunch break". Drat and double drat!! USA lost!! Well at least they are advancing to the next round.

lackluster game against Germany, looked like the US was playing for a tie. Oh well, on to the round of 16!
In other football news Suarez was suspended for 4 months (9 international games 9 EPL games and 3 champions league games as well as a 112K fine)... In the end it's not enough IMO, but at least it's more than they gave him last time.
