This was a question on my mind as well. This really isn't a bad story line. The problem is the creative team going for the total annihilation angle, which seems too far fetched for any alien culture to master, much less make an attempt to annihilate not only everything, but themselves in the process. The creative team could have made this a nifty little mystery about the two Lazarus (or is it Lazarii?).
