For example, I was taught evolution by a Jesuit priest in the 1960's. Although the Church did not forbid that at the time, it was considered contraversial from a religious point of view. And the order has been banned a couple of times over the centuries for basically telling the Vatican to get stuffed.
And yet one well regarded historian, Will Durant, referred to them as the "Church's Shock Troops"! And they are organized like a military organization. The head of the Order is called the Father General and is sometimes referred to as "The Black Pope" because they wear nothing but plain black priests' garb and they will tell other Catholic authorities to get stuffed!
@wfmyers1207, Jesuits would be good candidates for a grimm fighter group in the show.

@jsgrimm45, I was researching about Brazilian history looking for more elements that we could use to link Brazil in the grimm world. In past royals of one kingdom used to marry royals from another kingdon. And I discovered something interesting.
Just a little Brazilian history. The portuguese king who brought his family to Brazil running from Napoleon was Dom João IV (in 1808). One of his sons was Dom Pedro. After Napoleon’s defeat, Dom João went back Portugal (in 1821), but Pedro stayed in Brazil. Dom Pedro was the one who declared Brazil independent from Portugal and became the first Brazilian emperor.
Why is it important? Because in 1816 Pedro married Maria Leopoldina of Austria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Leop...of_Austria). This connects Brazil to Austria prior to Germany. Actually, Brazilian first Empress consort was from Austria.
I don’t know if the writers know that. But if we go with that theory of the Portuguese family bringing some of the royals keys to Brazil, Maria Leopoldina would be the perfect carrier since she was from Austria.
Does it brings new ideas for you?
