My comment:
It is only in today's effeminate male /metro-male world is this true. There is a time to simply man up. At least one regular posting here is Vietnam Vet whom, reading between the line, saw more than his share of the horror of war, and while he may be sensitive at times, I am quiet sure he has had a happy productive life since then. My uncle went through 3 major meat grinders including the ill fated Rapido River crossing and managed to go on with nary a word, hold down a job for 35 years, raise 3 well adjusted children and maintain a loving relationship with his wife till her death. My own father was a guest of the Japanese and went on to raise a family and hold down a job with nary a word. My co-host on our now defunct radio show served in Vietnam, and judging by the a accolades given to him went through more than one meat grinder, once again - no counseling needed.
On the personal side I lost loved ones to non-natural causes, it is rough but I did not go running for a therapist. The history of this great nation (ethnocentric bias alert) is one where the many children lost a parent before adult hood often in very unpleasant ways. Often children were raised by people (through successive marriages) to whom they had no biological relationship.
Nick needs to work it out in his own way., for every man that is different. Maybe a few pelts on his belt is what it will take, maybe just a good private cry, a single night of reflection, maybe just a visit to the grave.
Live is tough, but mankind has endured. I certainly hope they don't turn Nick into a whiny little female-dog. Vengeance is one thing, being a female-dog is another. Nick already seems a bit on the sweet side to me, I hope we get to see him man it up in Season 5.
My thoughts....
I think you might be refurring to me. Let me tell you the story. Every generation of my family has worn the uniform. The first Myers hit dirt in 1707 in Virginia and 2 generations later his descendant was fighting in the "French and Indian War" what some folks in EU would call the "Seven Years War" We have fought for our country every generation since!
