Coupled of course with who your parents pressure you to believe is real before you are old enough to think logically for yourself. There are exceptions to this where parents don't care what their children believe and still the the kids grow to believe on their own. This is happening more and more where I'm from.

My faith comes from both parental guidance and personal seeking. Mom and Dad met at a religious college. Mom became a teacher and Dad became a pastor. Dad was exempt from the draft but volunteered to be with the soldiers in WW II. He survived Omaha Beach on D-Day, was wounded twice and was awarded the Silver Star. Mom was an artist and taught reading. After the war they adopted a German family to help them recover. They were both practitioners of tough love before the phrase was popular. They both could walk the walk.
I was a problem kid, but grew out of it. I did some stupid things. I nearly drowned once, but somehow made it to shore. The Lord was there and without his presence I would have died 50 years ago. From that experience I know my Redeemer lives.
I am active in our church and participate in worship, study and mission projects. We Christians are not perfect, but our faith helps us lift each other.
Peace,
N G
God bless you.
