The stick’s history is rather convoluted - big surprise * grin *
In seasons 1 - 4, the stick was an unidentified object that could be wielded by anyone regardless of their intentions. In S5, the stick was a piece of wood of unknown origin and intent. In S6, the background was redirected as rooted in Grimm legend & prophesy.
But if IRRC, even in S5 & S6 the stick was something the Grimm knights stole during their plundering of Constantinople, not an object created and/or passed down specifically for/by Grimm. Actually, the prophecy warned of a Grimm who would open the portal and allow Zerstörer to break free.
I didn’t take the stick attaching itself to the staff as indicating anything specifically about Grimm/Nick, other than he killed Zerstörer. Diana said the stick didn’t belong in the other world. How she knew and how Zerstörer collected all the other pieces and took them to the other world is anyone’s guess, but it’s reasonable that once Zerstörer was dead the remaining piece joined the whole because the portal had been permanently closed.
Me too. Trubel probably couldn’t take the stick for the same reason Zerstörer couldn’t - Nick had to willingly hand it over or allow another to use it, even if his willingness was the result of coercion.
This is an interesting discussion, js, and as irukandji said, it’s nice to discuss a topic that doesn’t have anything to do with the characters’ good/bad intentions/deeds. That said, this discussion reminds me of how disappointed I was with G & K throwing in bits and pieces to conclude the finale rather than delve into the history of the keys/artifact that were a pivotal storyline since the pilot episode.
I’d really like to understand what the seven knights knew or believed might happen in the future that compelled them to hide the stick in a way that provided future access to it. Because based on the storyline, Zerstörer would have never left the other world and become a threat had Nick, or someone, not taken the stick from it’s hiding place. And in the end, it was the joined power of four Grimm that destroyed Zerstörer not the stick. I’d also like to know if Nick can use the stick to change the timeline whenever he wants, or if resetting time to avoid deaths was a onetime action that the stick, not Nick, made happen.

Quote:I thought Nick had the most control over the staff because he was the one that found the stick. Trubel probably would've been the one to command it had she been the one to go into the Black Forest and bring it to Portland.
