I remember the last season getting praises more for the WotW than it ever did for character arcs, especially for their creativity. For nearly 123 episodes, there was a new wesen introduced with cool/interesting abilities. Reviewers were happy with the writers chosen procedural format, in some instances it was a highlight, a strength if the show that kept them watching. I think it's a small section of the fan base, myself included that (in the later seasons) wanted more time and energy spent on developing characters and establishing character driven plots such as the royals and maybe even BC. The writers had a formula, it worked for them and therefore they stuck by it till the end. Some fans were happy, some weren't.
Thanks for clarifying. I get what you mean. It's great way to introduce the show and characters but after a while there needs to be more character development to avoid stagnation. I think I preferred the first 3 seasons though so I might be in the WoW group for now. Haven't seen S6 yet though! And haven't re-watched any of it. I may come around during subsequent viewings. I do agree with other commenters (can't remember which thread) about Monroe and Rosalee not really being developed enough. Just Fighter/Healer pairing after a while.
