I doubt it. Writers are only allowed to milk a plot device for so long, before the television audience gets annoyed. Also, by not dealing with the key plot, you are requiring the audience to remember things on the show from the first and second season. That's creates added confusion for any people just beginning to watch the show. Unless Nick or someone else provides regular exposition about the keys, many people are going to forget their signficance, or never have known their significance in the first place.
With this in mind, I'm pretty sure the key arc is getting resolved in season 3. Now, whatever "treasure" is concealed by the seven keys may not be resolved in season 3.
Personally, here's how I see the story playing out. Right now, Eric is the only member of the Royal family still gung ho about getting Nick's key for the simple reason that there are still two keys unaccounted for. Getting Nick's key really doesn't resolve the situation, but is merely a nice step forward. What will likely happen in season 3 is that the Royals get their hands on the other two unaccounted for keys, giving them 6 of the 7. Then, it will no longer be Eric that's impatient. It will be the entire Royal family.
At that point, you will see the entire strength of the Royal family brought down upon Portland, Oregon.
