Considering the chain of events from then to her ‘falling in love with Nick’, anyone with a lick of sense would have either gone insane from the insanity that had taken over her life or would have pulled herself up by the bootstraps and stopped letting others rule her life.
But Adalind didn’t do either. From introduction to present, she has continuously rolled with the flow that others have directed to accomplish their objectives.
While I believe Diana was a powerful incentive for Adalind to go to Renard/BC, it’s telling that she’d been reasonably content believing Diana was with the Royals while playing house with Nick.
I don’t believe Adalind was under too much stress to make sense of information coming her way or stress caused her to grab the first opportunity to get Diana back as if it was the only option. I think Adalind grabbed an opportunity that she believed would get Diana back and she would still have Nick.
As you committed on in another post, Adalind could have at least attempted to persuade Renard to abandon his alliance with BC and do what was best for their daughter. She could have tried to sell him on the idea of them being a team for Diana’s sake. But Adalind did what she always does, rode out the problem, hoping she & the children survived, and was faithful the man she currently believes she loves. If Adalind was using common sense, or maybe denial is the only way she can be with Nick, but either way, it isn’t rational that Adalind hates Renard for ‘giving his daughter away’ but acts as though Nick and the gang had nothing to do with taking Diana from her.
I’m sure Adalind is under pressure to be with and take care of her daughter without it interfering with her being with Nick. But to me, that’s the biggest problem with Adalind. What Nick might need/want, and Renard for that matter, shouldn’t even enter the equation. At this point, providing a calm and emotionally healthy environment for Diana should be her first priority.
And I don’t’ think putting Diana’s wants/needs first is allowing a child to rule everyone’s lives. Every adult in her life at the moment bears responsibility for the chaotic and dangerous life Diana’s had. So if her needs interferes with their plans, too freakin’ bad.
