Adalind will never be Renard's intellectual equal. But I never saw her as his lackey either. To me, Nick was the one who fit into that role. He used Adalind, there's no doubt. However, she was far too spunky and far too mean (and remained so long after he was out of her life) to let him get her down.
The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
