But 95% of all vampire books suck, so I never understood the Twilight hate. I also don't understand how someone can say the Twilight books are terrible (I've only read the first one, so I don't know how the others turn out), but then go and say Anita Blake or the Sookie Stackhouse Novels are better. As vampire stories, they all suck equally (though Twilight is the most popular of the bunch). I personally liked the first Twilight Book more than any Anita Blake novel I've read.
YES! I agree, 95% of everything vampire sucks because of the trend problem I mentioned before... it's gotten to the point where Vampire Stuff is almost it's own genre and producers/publishers etc. eat up anything vampire like it's gold, so inevitably you get a lot of garbage that makes it to print/the screen. Then vampire fanboys (notice I say fanboys not fans) eat it up like candy because it fits with their narrow view of what is cool, thus compounding the problem. It's gotten to the point where I stay away from anything vampire unless it is highly recommended by someone who has a reputation of knowing good from trash.
Disclaimer: if you are a fan of vampire books, please don't take offense. If you like vampire stories, that's fine... I too like a good vampire novel or show... a GOOD vampire novel or show.. If you are a 'fanboy' of vampire stuff than go ahead and be offended. A vampire fanboy, is someone who loves all things vampire, even things he/she has not read or seen just because they involve blood sucking immortals. A fanboy likes everything in their selected genre or genres and slams everything everyone else likes without necessarily reading or watching it. I don't think we have any fanboys on this site however so I hope this last part of my rant is pointless...
end rant...
