This may have been the best season of any show I've seen in the past year other than Westworld. It would be third if we're counting miniseries such as The Night Of.
The Ghost Rider and LMD arcs were great but even they were surpassed by the Framework arc. That was absolutely brilliant and it was great to see characters like Ward and Bakshi again. Tripp was a little nice as well even though I was never a fan of his character.
It's hard to say who was the MVP of this season. I really felt like Fitz, Simmons, and Radcliffe could fight for that title but I have to give it to AIDA. She was amazing and I'm really going to miss her. It would've been impossible but she was such a credible threat that her presence could've been felt throughout the MCU. Ghost Rider taking her out was great and well-earned, especially considering how tied the season amd its different arcs together, but I would've loved to see an AIDA vs. Wanda battle.
Speaking of the MCU, this season felt like it could've tied in with Dr. Strange without directly referencing him. Especially when you consider all the talk about dark magic, Ghost Rider mentioning different dimensions, and the Darkhold itself.
On the other hand, I'm glad the show can stand on its own and I rank it right behind TWS as my favorite MCU property. It's managed to creep right in there with Daredevil for me.
I also think it's the most quotable of the MCU properties. They don't have to be anything profound or metaphorical to have a significant impact. Daisy asking Simmons "Are you still dead?" and her responding with "No, I'm feeling much better now" was great. But, my favorite of the season and possibly of the entire show was AIDA'S pause and then saying "Wut?!" after Fitz told her he could only love Simmons was equally hilarious and terrifying. That one will stick with me for a long time.
