Surely G & K would have instructed BT on how to play her character if she wasn’t playing Juliette the way they wanted.
I’m certainly not a Juliette fan, but I’m not a Nick fan either. Whether together or separate, watching paint dry is more exciting than those two. However, every episode was written to showcase Nick/the central character/the male lead/the Grimm/the hero. While unlike the other supporting characters who were clearly set in their roles, Juliette remained mostly in limbo over the course of the show. She never fully committed to the Grimm life, yet never seriously considered ending the relationship. Even as a Hexenbiest, her motivation was left up in the air. Did the Hexenbiest allow Juliette to express four and half years of pent up anger & resentment or did the spell-created Hexenbiest take control and Juliette was helpless to stop it? And before viewers or the character could figure it out, Juliette was announced dead and replaced by the new character, Eve, who didn’t give a flying fig about anything prior to her existence. What is any actor to do with such a rollercoaster characterization other than play each characterization to the satisfaction of the creative team?

I always figured one reason shows make a big deal of their 100th episode because so few make it that far. I would guess than when they are pitching the show they talk about the characters for season 1, as the writing goes along they change the roles and weights of them, if they make it pass renewal for season 2 they celebrate and then start to decide what the hell to do next. As I remember it, Nick and Hank's actors' names are the only ones mentioned in the opening credits, the writers probably did not know who would be important in season 4. I doubt Wu and Bud knew their bank accounts would fatten up that much If the characters in Grimm had not changed, the show would have grown predictable and been a lot less fun.Happy Days’ the Fonz immediately came to mind. A character intended as an occasional bit part soared to popularity and made the actor famous and wealthy. I doubt the show runners ever expected a character or actor to be more popular than Ron Howard’s Richie Cunningham. And while Adalind’s popularity never came close to the Fonz mania, the character was originally created for a specific storyline that would conclude within the first season and went on to become the central character’s love interest. You just never know how fans will respond.
