Robyn, I don’t think Adalind came to any realization about men in season 3 and season 4 she just came to a realization that her kids came first. To you that my have changed in season 5 but it didn’t to me because unlike you I believe Adalind did all she could to get Diania back while also caring for Kelly. Adalind has always had a weak spot for caring about men more than they care about her that was always a flaw of her’s it’s perfectly within her previous characterizations.
It’s your opinion she abandoned the search for Diania in my view she still wanted Diania just as much and did what she could to find her but had to much to deal with looking after Kelly and making sure he was safe. Then the first chance she got to get Diania she took it and chose to make herself a prisoner to see Diania again. She loved Nick but she chose her children over Nick so to my mind Adalind is every bit the caring mother she was in season 3 and season 4. Adalind could of made better decisions in season 5 certainly, like asking Meisner if he knew anything about Diania’s whereabouts or not bringing Kelly to the BC house certainly but if Adalind always made the right decision that would be totally out of character considering she was always known as a character who makes a lot of mistakes.
I agree in early season 5 Adalind storyline was to confined to just Nick and the fome but that was mostly because she had a new born. In the back half of season 5 her storyline was far from totally dependent on Nick as she was involved in the BC and Renard, Diania plot. She was also involved in the storyline of returning to the law firm which was connected to the BC storyline. It was Adalind who actually helped save Nick in season 5 not the other way round it was her who had the best control of Diana and used that to her advantage.
Adalinds early season 4 storyline was mostly about her being humiliated and tortured while making zero progress in finding Diania. The whole of her season 4 was biscally about her relying on someone first the Royals and then Nick it was about her making stupid decisions without thinking them through like claiming the baby was Viktors without researching first then been laugh at by Kenneth for being stupid also like blindly following Viktor into the dungeon while he also had a good laugh. There was no such scenes in season 5 that made Adalind look like a complete buffoon.
