So you don't believe that a magic is part of a hexenbiest's legacy?
I do believe magic is a part of their legacy but I didn't get the impression that giving away babies was part of it. This seemed like an isolated incident.
I could see a Hexenbiest signing a magical contract as somewhat common but the requirement to hand over their child was just the price for this contract. Like you said, the unborn child was initially Adalind's bargaining chip but she didn't have to be. There could've been anything of value she could've used. Adalind getting her hands on the keys and trading them for her powers would have made just as much sense. Even the coins would've sufficed.
My main point was that Diana and Kelly going to take care of some bad wesen is in no way equal to Adalind changing her mind about giving away Diana. She bonded with her child as soon as she was born and realized she was something that should not be traded away. It was character development. This is further evidenced when she has Kelly and doesn't wish to have her powers back. Adalind decided being a mother to her children was more important than getting her Hexenbiest back.
I personally thought she could have both since being a Hexenbiest didn't impede her from being a caring mother but she thought otherwise.
