Not sure that affection is the correct description - Renard didn’t have the same affection for Nick that he had for Meisner. Nick was an asset that Renard wanted alive and close at hand, until he didn’t need him anymore. Plus, once he had an up close and personal view of Bonaparte’s powers, I doubt there’s much that would compel Renard to challenge Bonaparte. I'm not sure that Kelly's life would be enough for Renard to face certain death.
