I timed it, that takes about 6 seconds to say, and with camera angles and scene set-up and fade, no more than 9 seconds. Yet a comment like that speaks volumes in terms of defining the relationship.
G&K invested their time and energy deciding whether they wanted a Nick/Adalind and forgot that Kelly is the only reason Nick/Adalind is even a possibility.
