A couple of things that I noticed about the episode. The Star Date on Where No Man has Gone Before is 1312.4. I'm assuming this is blooper since from what I understand, the Enterprise is in 2200's, or the 23rd century, so that would put the Valiant at the end of the galaxy around the year 2000. How the Valiant have made it all the way to the end of the galaxy at the turn of the century? From what I understand of the galaxy it's approximately 53,000 light years big.
I get that the Valiant was a smaller ship, but let's add your question to it. This had to be an ever rarer ship than the Enterprise, so I wonder why it wasn't accompanied by, at the very least, another ship.
And would spacemen of the 21st century really have the technology to fly through a force field they know nothing about?
According to Dr. Dehner, there were more people on the Enterprise who were affected by this force field, yet no mention is made of how they fared.
