This does bring a question to mind. The Federation certainly would claim this solar system as Federation space, but does that mean every planet in that solar system must be a Federation planet? I would think every planet would be free to choose whether to align with the Federation or not to align.
Regarding Spock's statement about Rayna, don't you find it odd that he admitted he "hoped" he was wrong? And what was it he saw or felt that would have made him make such an admission?
I also think Flint's outlook is also a strange one. He wants to create this perfect woman who's equal to him, intelligence wise, but at the same time holds the reins on her freedom. He says it. She is his. So he's in control.
Do you think Rayna has an "off" switch?
Regarding a potentially bioengineered Rayna, there is a similar fiction out there known as Halo. My son is a fan of the video games as well as the novels. I have read the novels and while they are simple reads, the concept is a fascinating one to me. Halo is about genetically enhanced soldiers who fight aliens. I have not watched the series but plan to. I'm wondering what would be the difference between a biologically engineered Rayna and a genetically enhanced human.
