There is an argument to be made they could have ended season 4 with Sean being the one that hired Meisner to kill the king and get Diana. This could have set up for Sean to have plans to take over the Royal family and control the varret.
Using this as a foundation they could have continued with the key story line and even still had it transition into the stick story line. Without HW I am not sure what they would have done with Juliette. Most likely there would be no Eve. Second they put Juliette and Sean together. They could have continued that story line. I can not think of any of the stories that would have not worked if Sean was in charge of the Royals and Juliette was on Sean's side.
They still could have introduced zestorer who set up for the confrontation to end all confrontations. The arc of them all having to work together would still work. The only character that would be hard to write without HW is Trubel.
