Frankly I'm amazed Nick was able to pull himself back at the last second.
Exactly. Girlfriends dump you, wives divorce you, but one's mother is one's mother. (Nick essentially had two--Kelly, his birth mother, and Marie, who raised him--and both were taken from him violently.)
Nick is going to need extensive counselling. But whom would he tell? Unless there is a wesen 'enlightened human' (forget the pseudo-German term) psychiatrist in Portland--which really wouldn't surprise me--he couldn't open up to any therapist enough to get any help.
This is one of the reasons I think Truble will be very important to him for a while. She is the only person who can really relate to what has happened to Nick.
First: Because she is a Grimm like him.
Secondly: Because she has also experienced personal tragedy because of being a Grimm.
The rest of the crew can be very sympathetic, but they will not understand the way she can. They have also developed that "big brother, kid sister" relationship. I have a sister, and I will tell her things I would never really speak of to my brothers.
