Following the death of Bonaparte, the person who's calling Renard turns out to be a royal, and it eventually comes out that Black Claw and the Occultatum Libra movement was secretly a wholly owned subsidiary of Viktor and the seven royal families, created as a smokescreen for the global plot outlined by Ian Harmon in S01. Renard, realizing that he's been totally played by Viktor, is forced to come crawling back to the scoobies, who eventually grudgingly accept him (for Diana's sake, can't think of any other reason why they would). There is an ultimate conflict between the scoobies and Viktor and his minions, Diana and the stick somehow become the ultimate power that enables the scoobies to bring down the royals, and possibly using that power causes the emergence of Zerstorer (I'm still not sure how I feel about the entire Zerstorer plot, so take your pick as to whether the series finale is scoobies vs royals or scoobies vs Z).
Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Dropping the Royals with their direct connection to Grimm and the highly sought after relic made no sense of all, especially once Nick took possession of the mysterious stick. Nor did dropping the yet determined outcome of Diana’s good vs. evil future - the one so important to the world that taking her into hiding was the only option.
Diana releasing Zerstörer while briefly dabbling with the dark side before making a decision to move toward the light could have gone a long way in supporting Kelly’s theory and insistence that taking the child was initially the only way to ensure the desired outcome. And of course, I can’t imagine bringing back Alexis Denisof as Viktor a bad idea. Plus, his continued battle against the Royals would have better supported Meisner’s extended presence in Portland as well as providing a better storyline for Hexenbiest Juliette.
