Texas has similar laws as here in PA, when it comes to protecting life and property. Notice what I said, laws protecting life and property, not gun laws.First thing morality and legality are two different things. Breaking a law does not make you immoral. You can do something that you consider moral that could still be illegal. People do not define morality by where you live. They define it by what you believe. That is why you could have several groups that live in the same area and have entirely different opinions on what is moral. The discussion of the death penalty is an example of the conflict created by trying to define what is moral. The same is true with abortion. These are two subject where there never can be a common conscientious. The reason is one side depends on what they believe, the other depends on science.
You also make a reference to the castle doctrine. Yet you fail to consider this is one law who application heavily depends on your social position according to the statistic. Yet many believe that race and economics has noting to do with how it is applied. It is another example of science vs belief. It is this idea that what one believes is more important than what can be proven.
What I have a problem with is people who categorize others based on subjective facts. Since you where talking about killing a intruder. It is one thing to say killing is bad. That is an objective position that can be defended by factual evidence. The evidence being killing someone deprives them of there life. When you add caveats then it becomes subjective. Take stand your ground. That's bases on "you are in fear of your life". A statement that could never stand up to the scientific method, thus by definition means it is subjective. Simple experiment. Do you love your family? Prove it. The bottom line is you can't That you love your family completely depends on what you believe.
The main reason why I try and educate is. You can examine every conflict any where and they are all over a difference in belief. I always ask the question why does what someone believes effect you. It is what they do not what they believe. yes what they believe can effect what they do. But that only happens when someone is using their belief to affect others. Take this discussion. I have never said someone opinion is wrong or right. I have always stressed that i object to categorizing not how they categorized. If the categorization is based on a subjective idea instead of an objective fact.
