It's true that Adalind was beyond selfish when wanting to have a baby so she can trade for her powers. It as abhorrent and can't be defended on any level.
But believe it or not, Adalind was the one who seemed the least concerned with Diana's powers. That had nothing to do with why she wanted her back or her promise to raise her right along with Kelly. It was shown that she was more concerned with what Kelly would turn out to be due to Nick being his father than what Diana would become and even that only lasted briefly. Adalind was determined yo raise her kids in a loving environment and she certainly didn't want them to become like she used to be. That was what her speech at her mother's grave was really about because she felt like her mother failed her and she wouldn't let history repeat itself. Everyone was concerned with Diana being special but Adalind only saw as the daughter she lost and desperately wanted to get back.
It's noticeable that Adalind never attempted to use Diana's powers for her personal gain even when she was in danger. I remember there being a debate stating Adalind could've told Diana to take out BC in the warehouse so she could leave with her but Adalind never once told her to use her powers in a violent way even when I thought it was called for myself.
