What Adalind really wants is Sean out of her and her children's lives, and I doubt that Nick doesn't understand that. He was just pointing out that it just wasn't going to happen within a deal Renard was willing to make. And that's not even addressing Diana's reactions.
Adalind was running from a homicidal Juliette, had a baby and then was surrounded by the growing BC crisis. There is only so much anguish one can handle before it prevents you from doing what needs to be done in the present. At some point, you have to push something to the back for a while. Even people whose children vanish and they have no idea whether they're even alive have to take care of business while they hope for some news in the future.
