Something he had to do because Adalind had sold his daughter to the Royals. Why would Sean trust Adalind with Diana when Adalind sold her putting her in danger. Kelly is the one that risked her life to save Diana.
So given the choice of does Sean trust Adalind the women that sold his daughter or Kelly the women that rescued his daughter. IMO Kelly wins that argument.
Sean had the resistance get Diana using their money. He did not save his daughter. That is why the resistance wanted Diana back since they felt they "earned" her.
It was never clear to me why the royals would be so bad compared to what the resistance/HW did to Diana?
Adalind was always with baby Diana in Europe the only time she let go of her was to give her to Sean in Portland.
Sean thinks Nick is a bad dad but Nick thinks Sean is the bad dad. Nick and mama Kelly believed that Adalind would make a bad mother because Sean had known Adalind and her mother for many years and he believed it.
Nick thinks taking baby Diana without Adalind was a mistake. That is why Nick supports Adalind keeping Diana and Kelly and staying with him. IMO Nick wins that argument.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
