So agree with you there!
And I finally figured out why I am so in love with the show!! I love monster flick, and this is like a serialized monster flick! With more substance (for a monster flick!) and lovable characters!
And whenever I watch superhero shows (which this is not), I am always annoyed that they can't at least confide in 1 or 2 peeps. The show just got 50% better (if that's possible) after they looped Hank in! Juliette's optional, she doesn't add much value to the investigations or the show. Her only function is being the protagonist's woman. Blah.

Actually, I don't think the show is stupid. Does it rely on a weekly monster strategy? Yes, most of the time. Are said monsters, as far as we know, patently impossible? Yes. That said, the show has continued and concerted character development. There is royal intrigue and a hinted apocalyptic power struggle. But even beyond all that, what I believe the show is getting at is the power of story, and not just an emotional, emotive power. These stories come from older stories, which probably come from yet older stories. Their continuation in some form has to do with their power in the human psyche. C. G. Jung demonstrated this. Unfortunately, psychology, sociology, anthropology, etc. Being "soft sciences," are not always given the credence they deserve. But there is a reason these stories about things that go bump in the night continue to intrigue us. Especially well thought out stories like those in Grimm.
