Universal studios and Grimm - Thomas Sterling Shoffield III - 09-24-2013

Anyone else think it would be cool if Universal studios added a theme area in one of thier parks based on Grimm...i think it would be very cool lots of stuff they could do with it...and also would love for them to make merchandise like the did with the harry potter films and all maybe release collectable editions of the books in nicks trailer and special edition weapons from that trailor as well...lots of cool ideas could be done...Does Anyone else think so ?

Hey Thomas, welcome to the forum! I've got to say that this is a really interesting question! That'd be awesome if there were a Universal Studio attraction. Does Universal Studios have the rights to create such an attraction?

Grimm is produced by NBCUniversal. Notice the second part of that company's name. I have no doubt that Universal Studio could easily get the rights to build a theme area in their parks based on Grimm. However, the reason I don't see it happening is that I doubt there's sufficient demand. Most rides/theme areas are based around popular movies rather than TV shows, simply because more people are willing to watch a two-hour movie than commit to a multi-season television show. Hence, sufficient demand.

While Grimm ratings are OK, they are not exceptional enough to warrant their own theme area at this point. If you could give me any examples of other similarly popular shows (e.g., Buffy, Angel, etc.) that got an exhibit, I might reevaluate my opinion.

The one horror themed show that I'm aware that has had a Universal Studios exhibit is The Walking Dead. http://blogs.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/photo-galleries/the-walking-dead-halloween-horror-nights-at-universal-studios/#/0

However, The Walking Dead has the best 18-49 ratings of any scripted show on television, either cable or broadcast. I unfortunately can't say the same about Grimm.

Sadly I agree HJ Sad

But the idea is nice. Maybe they should make a tv-show-park in Portland. It looks like many shows are filmed in Portland or Seattle. Wink

Your probably right but it would be a cool idea...its a shame in these days that well made shows that are exciting and intelligently made are often overlooked by shows such as the walking dead which in my opinion is a terrible show not one likeable charactor in the whole lot with the exception of maybe Daryl...but maybe just maybe ratings will at least stay good enough to continue the series then

If the theme area doesn't have to be at Universal Studios, go to the next Comic-Con in San Diego. The past one this summer had a replica of Rosalee's Spice shop.
