In another thread the ever reflective Robyn writes(note portions deleted):
I thought this would make a good topic and deserved its own thread.
So who do you view, if anyone, as the good guys in Grimm?
I discarded Nick for many reasons, primarily because I think any LEO who operates outside the rule of law and violates his oath of office as he does, ultimately does more long term harm to society than good. I do not state that lightly. Understand our Bill of Rights came at huge cost in terms of human life and was designed as an affront to the type of authoritarian behavior Nick routinely engages in. I don’t want to belabor the point, but it is not insignificant.
Truble was ruled out, though I think she is by far the most sympathetic character in the series, her lack of remorse, sense of right or wrong are immature at best. Once again, though she is a very sympathetic that does not make her a good guy.
Bud...I am not sure if being an all around decent chap makes you a good guy. He certainly does not seems to be a bad guy, but I am not sure he is a good guy. I am very malleable on this character. My instincts tell me good guy, but there is a little voice in my head that says somehow you have to do more. There is an oft referenced saying: The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing. To me that becomes the issue.
Renard. Love his character but he is scorpion on his best day.
Adalind: LOL. No way. She may have a more lovable persona but she is manipulative, immoral, lacks compassion and is motivated always by her own self interest.
Juliette: Good grief to be a good guy you would need some semblance of a conscious or soul.
Monroe: To me he is the good guy in the series. He had put himself in harms way many times for the right reasons. He has engaged with what he was told the enemy, concurred personal demons and has been benevolent to others. He has attempted to nurture the following generations. Hi is the epitome of a good guy.
Rosalee: And she is the good woman in the series. She has stepped outside herself, assisted others, pushed herself beyond her comfort zone for the benefit of others, endangered herself to assist others, is compassionate, willing to get involved.
Hank: See comments about Nick.
Wu: Ditto comments about Nick.
Meisner: Sorry but working for a secret squirrel Government agency that operates outside the rules of the Constitution makes you the enemy of the republican to the defender there of.
Now I gave my thoughts, I am interested in yours.
