Loving a child can do wonders, I'm not disagreeing with that. But Nick has never shown any real inclination toward Diana. He did a search on his computer and that was that. While it can be argued that he did what he could, it also can be argued that we've seen Nick go above the beyond to get what he needs. To me, looking at a computer, shrugging your shoulders and giving up tells me it's not a priority, if as you say, he really wants to make a go of it with Adalind and bring Diana into the household.

I think the central issue is Nick is not yet a man. He is incapable of making the tough, realistic assessment of self that generations of men made before him. It is a 2 second assessment to arrive at the only logical conclusion that Grimm life is incompatible with family life. This does not take any sort of deep soul searching exploration. It is a conclusion any rational man would arrive at, almost instinctively. But he keyword in this is man and Nick remains very much the little boy.
