I felt that it was not exactly well written: Trubel's character seemed out of character, same for Nick, Roselee and the Captain.

if Rosalie She did not tell anything even Monroe is like what happened between Juliette and Nick.she never told his discomfort-it was due to the change-and never asked waiting for her to speak.lack of communication.
Logan really is an idiot guy.its response to the serious beginning as "I was swimming and that sort attacked me, was to defend myself.

You pick the episode apart the pieces are better then the whole. Trubel's part in catching Logan was great. Showed how much she has grown from. "My Fair Wesen" Nicks coming to terms with Eve. Just did not work from Nick's point. It was great for explaining Eve. The closure they gave Nick for his mother. The worrier status burial, was really good.
I know what the problem with the episode is. It was all narrative and disconnected. It left jumpy, like they had a lot to tell you and wanted to make sure they got it all in. It seems so much like it was more a setup for next week then it was and episode on it's own. Especially when you watch star-crossed promos.

A definite war room look, with no frills that would indicate an attachment to the world of people. She was fed a kind of chicken gruel that reminded me of the sort of paste you'd feed a cyborg to maintain its outer human anatomical needs.Consider Trubel's room reflected her with all the weapons. Eve's fit her. When in the compound you get the feel you are on a space ship. Meisner did not feed her, she took his dinner. He was eating it when he came in. He sets it down and she grabs and taste it. That showed they have a close working relationship. They respect and trust each other. We agree that Eve's room suits her needs. It's not the cramped hideaway I expected because I thought she was entering the cell she was kept in during her readjustment, maybe it was and I just pictured it being small and confining. It's completely in sync with the sterile lines of her new inner casing. Although I accept your interpretation of the process that she underwent (and consequent results) as being as likely to be as accurate as not, I still can't go with it altogether. The main thing that distinguishes we homo sapiens from the other animals, imo, is having a conscience which informs us of the difference between right and wrong. Don't see that here; she looks like a human and she sounds like a human, but I don't think she is a human now. I'm sure it will become more clear to me later and maybe I'll change my mind. During my rewatch, I'll be looking to see if that was a bonding moment when she took a bite of Meisner's delicious looking bowl of whatever; because that would be an indicator of Eve's possible ability to make friends; just kidding. I think you are absolutely right about the actual content of the scene.

That is kind of close, there sharing a meal including the spoon, and then she snipe at him. That's two people who trust and respect each other. That scene also showed she is social. Do not forget she is a hexenbiest. She may seem emotionless but the seductive nature is part of who they are.

This episode seemed like a bit of a patchwork quilt to me, where it may all be encapsulated in an episode but clearly it was made up of several incongruent components of varying quality.
First the elements I liked: I really liked the monster of the week bit. It was predictable but entertaining and had a B grade summertime drive-in element to it (for those old enough to know what a drive-in is). The big surprise for me was Jacqueline Toboni demonstrating a rapidly maturing acting talent in the form of Trubel. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much she has evolved as an actress since here first appearances. Contrast that with Bitsie Tulloch, who potentially has found the only role she is suited for in the form of the expressionless Eve. They developed the Rosalee's past thread in an appropriate manner, teasing it along. The elements I disliked. I could care less about the main tenor of this entire season, the black claw, wesen uprising. I am bored with Meisner and think the entire plot is beyond asinine. And as far as I am concerned, until she actually demonstrates she can act, any digital recoding of Bitsie on this show is a waste of storage media. The what happened to Kelly part. It was lame. It seemed so contrived and forced. Just another measure of how poor, in my estimation the writing is at times. Lack of Adalind and baby Kelly. Awww...Claire is so cute playing mommy, the show needs those light hearted moments. Ditto for Bud. Should not uncle Bud make an appearance? General comments. I think the writers really bit off far more then they can chew. They have too many characters now. They introduced some great characters and they don't have enough screen time to engage them in the episodes. For all the development Hank gets he might as well be dead. I really don't think I will ever get a chance to find out if he can act or not, his parts are so limited. Wu seems to be reduced to a bit character now and not even getting enough time to be his sarcastic self. Sasha as Renard is clearly the best actor on the show and is relegated to a minor role again wasting his considerable store of talent. There really is a lot of dangling stuff. The keys, the coins, Diana, succession in the Royal family (remember them, a major focus of the first 4 seasons?), succession of the wesen council. In summary So all in all some parts of the episode were good, like the monster of the week, and Rosalee's past, but then we get to the wesen uprising and what is Eve nonsense and it spirals downward.

Well izzy, I'm not sure I agree with you completely. But, you have some definite points. A) I also liked the old "B" movie drive-in monster! (Yes, I'm old enough to know what a drive-in is!) B) The upcoming "blackmail" attempt upon Rosalee. I really like that girl. No matter what she may have done in the past, she is good people. Can't wait to see what Monroe is going to do to this scum bag for messing with his lady. C) I also agree that Jacqueline Toboni is coming along quite well. She was a rookie when she joined up in S3, she is learning, hope we can expect even better things from her in future. D) They really kind of blew off what happened to Kelly. "C'mon people. The woman was bad to the bone. She deserves a spot in Arlington." All in all, this struck me as a kind of "filler" episode. Perhaps, the writer's and show runners intend to move on to different story lines, and this episode was intended to just tie off some loose ends?

If you say that about Reptile Dysfunction then what about the Lost Boys, Rat King, and Maiden Quest? Quote:They really kind of blew off what happened to Kelly. C'mon people. I mean really, oh yeah, we bury all the people here, that is there resolution? Cripes... Quote:The upcoming "blackmail" attempt upon Rosalee. I really like that girl. Bree Turner is a talented actress who did a lot to develop Rosalee with her overall limited screen time (thankfully supported by the scripting). I hope the writers do not blow this one. In the sense of being able to balance them both and keep going. Could be wrong, but it's the second time I've noticed what seems to be his hesitance and possible stress response this season. Hi Speakeasy, Thanks for your help in asking how to start a thread. Hopefully someone will reply. Not to gat off subject, but are you an X Files fan? The last episode of X Files had a monster in it which resembled the water wesen in Reptile Dysfunction. Grimm has been compared to the X Files by many, but there was never a monster which turned human until last week and the show ran for 9 seasons (wish Grimm were that lucky). Don't know if it was meant to be a spoof of itself (the X files) or perhaps a spoof of Grimm. Just wondering. I'm sure others have picked up on this coincidence - or is there any such thing as a coincidence? Getting back to Grimm. Hank, who is second lead actor hasn't had much of a defining role lately and I believe the show seriously needs him to stay around. Panther19

Hi Panther19,
Go Panthers! Yes. I'm an old X-File fan and we watched that episode. When the guy woged my wife and I both said "Just like Grimm!" Maybe it was a spoof, but it did startle me once and I got some laughs from it. It was way more entertaining than 5.08 Reptile Dysmission. New Guy |
