I think in this case, Renard would truly be a mentor or able to substantively coach Nick, as Renard has had to walk this line for longer. However Nick may draw his own conclusion. And now that Hank and Wu are affected I think they should be part of the discussion.
I think it would add a level of realistic depth to the characters. One of the four (Renard, Nick, Wu, or Hank) certainly should have a crisis of conscious. It would be awfully odd if they did not. In retrospect Wu is likeliest to have an issue with it. But it would be more interesting if it was Nick.
Izzy, I was thinking about Sean as a mentor. Just for us to think a little deeper, why do you think he would be a good mentor?
Let me explain better this question to make things clear.
1- My personal view about Sean is that he is not trustful. I see him as the with an agenda and he organize all his life around his agenda. Example : Nick is friend because Nick can add something to Sean agenda. If the conditions change (Sean became king for example) I can see he easily hunting Nick (or betraying him somehow) for the keys.
2- My personal view about Sean is that he is the "end justify the means" guy. I think that for Sean Nick's job nowadays is almost perfect. No conscious crise for him.
3- Based on the events of the show, I have the impression that Nick and Sean entered to the police for different reasons :
. . A- Nick didn't know he was a grimm when he entered the police, the Grimm came after. So I have the impression that Nick wanted to be cop. This was his choice for life.
.. B- I think Sean always know he is a royal and that his family put a hint in him and his mother. Certainly Sean would like to be in family business but he was running from them. Sean could be almost anything he want with his knowledge : deputy, diplomatic, governator or even president (maybe I am exaggerating a little ) but big things would attract attention for him. It is not good for someone in a running. I think Sean made some calculations and realized that being a cop is small enough to not bring attention over him, but big enough so he could use the police structure for his agenda. Example, track who enter and who quit the city. So I think Sean always used the PD, he was never a real cop.
Based on those ideas I thing Sean would turn Nick more in what he already is: a grimm that uses the PD for his own gain. Don't you think?
Or, are you seeing something about Sean that I am not?
