I do remember that the prince and bodyguard that Renard killed were carrying legal guns. All the other wessen were felons, so the weapons probably were illegal(don't know the law in Oregon). Anyway, the question was did they use them, and the answer is yes. I don't think the writers are pro or con gun, they helped the drama of the shows.(12-01-2015, 05:15 PM)Hexenadler Wrote: Personally speaking, I don't think the writers of "Grimm" are that committed to sneaking clever little subtexts into their stories. This occurred to me before I started the thread. But then I began to think of tv shows I've watched in the past and those I watch currently. Most of them have some kind of a social commentary thing going, not necessarily in every episode, but it does pop up from time to time. The original Star Trek came up with some really great commentaries, but then had just as many not so good to terrible ones.
I agree with you that these writers are not brilliant in executing social commentary. For that matter, they're not real brilliant about their characterizations. If they were, Nick would be an intelligent cop who could come up with multiple solutions rather than the usual killing wesen because he is unable to prove their existence.

True. Someone made a statement earlier about the difficulty of woging and being able to use a gun. What I was thinking is that maybe the writers are comparing woging to a form of mental illness, and so some wesen do not use guns while they are woged. There have been hot debates about mental illness and being able to own a gun. This could be a hint at gun control as well.

I'm assuming these were illegal weapons?
