As for Nick telling Truble about it, perhaps it's like the coins of zakanthous, something grimms have a greater ability to resist than most other people. They are not immune to it's influence, but they can hold off being tempted to misuse it than most other folks. Just a thought.
This is one of the things about grimms in the show. They have greater agility, innate fighting abilities, etc.. But, they also seem to be lest susceptible to the influence of evil then most people. Which is why they may have revolted against the Royal's back in the day.

Thinking the Crusades were Christian wars to take back Muslim-controlled Jerusalem for the Church. Since both Islam and Christianity are considered two of the world's great religions it is certain that both have faithful who believe in their own religious meanings of relics. Seems we have seen many more Christian-themed episodes and religious references, that's why I thought it so. But, since I'm an agnostic who admires and respects all people of faith, I don't really have a particular preference. So, it's fair to refer to the stick as a non-specific religious object, I agree.
Grimms do seem to have a innate resistance to many things which others fall susceptible to. In addition to also having more highly developed senses and physical abilities, they also seem to be able to recover from exposure or injury which might kill an ordinary person- and at times, be stronger for the experience. Better hearing, better eyesight, etc. None of this either confirms or excludes Grimms from being the chosen ones to use the stick, but I will continue to think that's way it may be until we learn more.
