As I said, this death would be probably be considered accidental rather than self defense against an assault. But yes, if the investigating officer were to file a report of the girl's statement that she told that guy not to touch her and said he found no evidence to disbelieve what she said or to disprove it, it would stand.
I would imagine that an autopsy would be performed on this young man. Nick just didn't bury the body in the woods and leave it at that, no matter what his beliefs might be. Poison found on a dead body in the middle of a bike trail would no doubt lead to an investigation.
The only way it wouldn't is if it was covered up. We know Nick's reports were being altered. The report relating to this case could have been fudged as well.
The best way to frustrate a cyberbully is to ignore him.
