I was expecting them to subvert much more of the fairytales we knew, to de-Disney-fy them in a similar vein but sadly the writers simply gave up after the "sleeping beauty" kiss between Renard and Juliette, as someone already said. That was the last of the fairytale element of the show. Grimms began as huntsman for hire to the royals, which was a fairytale element and in the last episode they were turned into mystical saviours of the world, it's a stark departure from how the show began. When I think of Grimm I think of fairytales, not Supernatural/Buffy.(09-17-2017, 04:30 PM)wesen Wrote: maybe it was the actress acting that caused me to be meh about her character. I remember watching the early seasons and thinking how emotionless she was, that she was a bad actress. It was distracting to be honest. She did get better in the later seasons though, and I felt her portrayal of Eve suited her far more than Juliette. Also, Juliette being human also isolated her from the fairytale part of the show. Yes, she was the proverbial princess, but she could never relate to the wesen world because she couldn't see them like Nick could. I would have been more than happy for her to exit the picture, so Nick could focus on WoW with the rest of the gang.
I had the opportunity in August to watch the live action Cinderella movie. I had heard good things about it, so I decided to tune in. While watching the movie, something occurred to me that I had never considered before.
Cinderella is a boring person. I've since come to the same conclusion about Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. They're beautiful but shallow and addle brained. The princes had to find them, and then it was a crap shoot based on whether they might make an appearance or he had to fight some dragon or beast to get to them.
Juliette was much like that. I would have liked to have seen Grimm taken her beyond the sleeping beauty phase and make her into her own woman, which was definitely not Eve. Eve is not an admirable character. Juliette as her own woman would have been far more interesting. What can I say though? It was apparent she wasn't going to amount to anything. She wasn't even given a real detailed background or a family.
