Either way, neither Catherine nor Adalind appeared instinctively compelled to take Nick down because he was a Grimm. Both directed their energies toward making the Royals and Renard happy. Actually, I got the impression that if not for Renard, Adalind would have given a wide berth to the Grimm. And Catherine only fought with Kelly because she was confronted by a Grimm inside her home.I do think they had an adversarial type of relationship but that goes for grimms and all the other wesen. What was said specifically on the show was that meliffers and hexenbiests were natural enemies or something to that effect back in S1.
Does anyone think Catherine and Adalind would have conspired on their own to take out the Grimm in Portland? Or would they have avoided drawing his attention?
I went back and re-watched the last scene, the book with Marie's inscription on Adalind was there but I think that's a continuity error by writers (not their first, Kelly documenting his father's exploits against Z in the genealogy book is another) I don't remember any of Nick's books surviving the fire. He got books from Josh's father and eventually from Monroe's uncle. Someone is welcome to correct me if any of Nick's original books survived the trailer fire.
Regardless, he can't really destroy the books he does have even if they are about his girlfriend/wife because the information contained goes beyond just Nick and how he feels about hexenbiests today. Not all hexenbiests are reformed like Adalind or Eve or even Elizabeth. Nick may never have known how to save Hank from the curse if it wasn't written somewhere that that the blood of a Grimm would do the trick had the Grimm that initially discovered that bit of information chosen to destroy all relevant journal entries of his hexenbiest(s) encounters just because he fell in love/became friendly with one. The books may seem outdated due to the prejudice of the times they were first written but the information is no less valuable when it comes to saving lives. I'm sure Marie said some awful things about Adalind during the time she stalked her and yet the book is right there in the new trailer because even Adalind understands the importance of the information within those pages towards keeping her family safe. She and Nick have both made peace that it's not necessary to destroy the books when they no longer have bearing on their personal relationship.
Adalind has books with very dangerous spells that were probably used to do a lot of bad things over the years and even her mother's books haven't been destroyed for the same reason. The information contained is valuable towards helping them fight the good fight against those wesen, including hexenbiests that are bad and destroying people's lives. Without knowing everything about every kind of wesen, it's foolish to destroy the books because one/three Grimms or one/three hexenbiests are enlightened about the relationship between grimm and hexenbiest.
As I recall, some of the books in the burned-out trailer were partially burned and taken to the spice shop. The books from Josh’s dad I believe were also in the trailer but not sure. Most definite, the books from Monroe’s uncle were gotten post, trailer burn-out.
The Grimm-Hexenbiest mortal enemy idea was more of a progression leading up to season 4. Reader, just be-ware , in some of these threads of other posters claiming their assumptions and opinions to be factual
You know you are OLD, when you see the Slide Ruler you used in college selling in an ANTIQUE SHOP!!
