As for the mayorship, that didn't seem to daunt him all that badly. He seemed to recover quite well. But then, I never thought he really wanted the mayorship in the first place.
As for the obsession spell, when did Adalind place an obsession spell on Renard so that he would be so extremely captivated by Juliette?
Adalind evens states in season 2 that if Juliette was awake Renard was the only one who could do it, she said if he did he’d be in for fun and so would she which suggests the obsession was always part of the plan if Juliette was brought back.
2x7 script
Juliette's awake, you know.
Well, then, I assume you had something to do with it.
You're the only one who could.
What did you give her? Why don't you ask my cat? You'll be having some fun And so will I

As for the rest Once again everything you stated above contradicts what actually took place on the show.
On the actual show Renard was shown to be extremely upset he lost the election in fact the scene in which he finds out about Nick/Renard is stepping down as Mayor is probably the angriest we’ve ever seen Renard the entire series. Renard even threatens to harm Adalind. He clearly wanted to be Mayor he even tells Nick this saying I want my life back and I want to be Mayor.
Grimm script 6x04
Renard: No, no, no, no, no, no! [He slams the remote down] No! [He turns around and looks at Adalind before walking over to her. Angrily] If I find out that you had anything to do with this... [He leaves, slamming the door behind him]
6x04 script
Renard: I want my life back!
Nick: Yeah, so do I.
Renard: But I get to be mayor.
Nick: Not gonna happen. You already quit, and everybody in Portland knows it.
Your claim he didn’t really want to be Mayor totally goes against show canon and the way the character of Renard was portrayed in seasons 5 and 6.
