He could have easily lived the life of a loner and still been an effective Grimm. But, the creators chose to give him what they felt would be an acceptable woman for him.
Yet from day one, Juliette was completely despised by a majority of the audience. I personally never cared for the character. I mean, what was there to like? Not a whole lot. But in looking back, it wasn't a problem with Bitsie or her acting. It was a problem with Grimm.
We know about Nick's family, Monroe's family, Rosalee's family, Sean's family, even dweebee Adalind's family. But when it comes to Juliette, who's by the way is the next most important character on the list next to Nick, there's......drumroll........tada...........a grandmother off in the boonies we've never met. No mom, no dad, no brothers or sisters.
We've seen Rosalee working in the spice shop, Monroe working with his clocks and helping Nick with cases, Sean at the police department, and Adalind plotting with the royals or being involved in some conspiracy. Juliette was shown at the pet shop maybe, twice? Once was so that Adalind could arrive with her scratch on delivery cat and the other time was so that Juliette could tell Nick 'she was working too'. What a revelation.
I have to agree, Juliette's character was never fully developed in the way the others were... To be honest I couldn't stand her all the way up through season 4. I wouldn't quite say I was happy when I thought they killed her off, because I wasn't expecting it and it seemed so sudden... but I personally much prefer Bitsie's role as Eve. I agree it was never a problem with Bitsie, but her character Juliette, and maybe it's because she was lacking.... to me it seemed like she was just there to show the effects becoming a Grimm had on Nick's previously "normal" life. He had a seemingly perfect relationship, and it was disrupted from day one having to keep secrets from her, worry about putting her in harms way, then all that memory loss crap (which irritated the heck outta me). She was just boring before, and to be honest her relationship with Nick never seemed real to me. It was either too much drama or "too good to be true". If they do end up together it would be a SERIOUS case of star-crossed lovers. Now I'm not sure 100% how I feel about Nick and Adalind, but I've always kind of been a fan of Adalind, even at her worst, don't ask me why. I know she gets a lot of crap for being devious, but think about how she was raised! She's had some serious crisis befall her and yes she's made some poor choices, but in a way I think she may be one of the most "human" characters haha. Deep down I think Adalind means well, that she has a good heart and just wants love and some sort of "normalcy" - especially since she's had kids. As for whether her and Nick are a good fit, that's another story... their relationship still seems kind of forced and akward. I really don't care if they don't remain romantically involved but I hope they can be good co-parents and don't end up as arch enemies once again.
