The wesen of the week format was the plotline that kept Grimm going. It was a broadbased formula and appealed to all audiences. For a change of pace, Grimm even spiced up the series with different plotlines: human turned wesen, human turned hexenbiest, hexenbiest possessed by ghost, grimm turned zombie, hexenbiest turned totally human, grimm turned totally human, spells, sex, decapitations, intrigue, etc., etc. etc.
I like the idea of a limited 8-10 week run and I like the idea of focusing on wesen culture or a story involving a human stumbling into the world of wesen. However, I have a feeling that the majority of people who watch Grimm could care less about wesen culture or if a human manages to stumble upon the wesen world. I think a lot of them no longer even care about the wesen of the week as revealed by the falling ratings.
The question I have is should Grimm continue? In my opinion, it should not. It isn't experiencing the highest ratings, but it's been given a chance few series have and that's to end on a high note. I hope it goes out with a bang.
