He thought Adalind 2.0 was the same as the old Adalind, the one who was drawn to power and influence. It was a rude awakening for him.You know, I never saw Adalind as being drawn to power and influence as much as being drawn to Renard and/or anyone who protected her. When she went to the Royals after Nick took her powers I thought it was about protection after Renard abandoned her and the best way to retaliate against his betrayal was aligning with those he hated and feared most. I saw Adalind as uncaring and influenced by power on the outside, while on the inside, an emotionally damaged little girl who was abandoned by her father and graved love and acceptance from her mother.
While Renard strategically manipulated people and events to his advantage from behind the scenes, Adalind’s emotions compelled her to act out without forethought to the endgame - the best long term outcome for her.
