They are people of every age group including seniors who move in together without expecting marriage.
I never assumed that Rosalee and Monroe were thinking of marriage when they moved in. Both of them had a tough past too and they knew their families would give them a hard time if they married which they did.

It could explain why she overreacted as violently as she did. She felt that something she'd believed would be an option for her one day was suddenly snatched away in so decisive a manner, like she didn't know what she (could have) got until it was gone.
I thought Juliette was angry that Adalind got something that Nick and her were never were going to get. When I watched show the first time I thought Juliette was going to surprise everyone and go back to Nick because Juliette had said in the past that Adalind would make a terrible mother. If Juliette had no issue with raising baby Kelly she could have asked Nick to talk to her separately. Juliette could have emailed mama Kelly for support and trapped Ken instead. Nick and Juliette could have taken another baby from Adalind and raised him themselves. From the time I first watched it till now I see Juliette dumping Nick.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
