No, Adalind left Nick because Conrad came to see her, talked to her about different ways one could lose someone, then told her that being with Nick was "unhealthy for you and Kelly" (i.e., if you stay with the Grimm we will kill you and your son), and gave her until the end of the day to decide. Unstated but obvious in that threat was that Adalind would also never see Diana again (because Adalind would be dead).
Conrad threatened her, but I didn't get the impression that Adalind was so deathly afraid of him that that's the reason she went to Renard. If it was, she would have been playing happy housewife from the start because she would have been too frightened to do anything else. That was not what happened when she went back to Renard.
Adalind had to make a choice. Stay with Nick, and maybe risk repercussions. Or take Kelly and go to Renard and be reunited with her daughter. She wanted Diana and said she could feel how much Diana needed her. It's not a lie that Renard could provide better resources for her and the children. He could, much better than Nick.

I don't think she's conflicted with regard to Diana. I think she's being selfish. She's desperate to be with Nick and her kids are going to suffer because of her choice.
Baby Kelly was never safe being with Renard. BC had very anti-Grimm policy and Renard also could have hurt Kelly to get back at Nick. Kelly benefits from living with his dad. IMO the conflict is really about what is best for each child is not the same. If Adalind cannot slow Diana's growth down she will only be caring for her for a few years while Adalind will be mom for 17 years at least for Kelly. Kelly has no powers and may not have any for years putting him at risk for much longer than Diana.
Renard never had any intention of hurting Kelly and Adalind certainly wouldn't hurt her children. But she was selfish just the same. She made the decision to return, but she made it plain she didn't want to be there and the atmosphere she created caused tension with Diana.
Adalind showed how great of a mother she could be when she was with Nick. She for the most part put Kelly first. When she went to live with Renard, neither Diana or Kelly was first. By treating Renard the way she did, she put Nick first and that was a terrible thing to do to her children.
I agree, Renard can be ruthless, but he is pudding in Diana hands, I believe Renard would have taken care of Kelly as his own....children sometime do that to some people.. I have not seen any evidence that Renard would hurt the children and I get the feeling by the end he will prove that.
