I am watching 1-21(Big Feet), and realized why this particular episode bothers me. I figured it out. Juliette was called out to check and treat a horse attacked by an animal because she is a veterinarian. The horse was left standing alone after being attacked already, while Juliette and horse owner go off playing super sleuth looking for Bigfoot. As a CVT, I am bothered by this entire scene. Here is why: First off, the medical kit Juliette was carrying was far from adequate, even for treating a small laceration; The horse should have been taken to a corral, at the very least, isolated from the other horses; the wounds were pretty severe, with a very likely chance of infection, which would have needed to be lavaged, scrubbed with Provodine solution, rinsed, and at the very least, some anti-bacteria ointment applied, all done, of course, while wearing gloves; a shot of an anti biotic would be great, as well as a tetanus shot; More than the hematocrit would be checked. This horse would need the whole panel done. Hematocrit only checks the percentage of RBCs in the blood and the color of the plasma.
My point is, why did the veterinarian leave the patient exposed and vulnerable?! Emergency calls are expensive. I would have to check her credentials.
Just saying.
