All the scenes the show make the connection ambiguous. A good example Adalind leaves Portland when she cold not get the keys from Sean for Eric. Making use think she had no interest in Sean. Only to come back after having Diana looking to reconnect with Sean.
But then the Adalind character is the most complex on the show. Is she good or is she bad. Where people debate why Juliette is not bad. The debate with Adalind seems to argue why you can't tell if her actions are sincere or if she is making it up.
People often debate why Juliette/hexenbiest is bad or not bad in season 4.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
