Kelly’s exact words to Nick in the video below are take care of my grandson I like his name, how some posters can see scenes like that then go and claim Nick just abandon his family for a grimm lifestyle is beyond me. I must have missed the scene were Kelly tells Nick abandon his family and let BC terrorist Renard raise the kids. The grimm writers have even stated in the interview below that Nick managed to avoid the Grimm life of solitude beacuse he is different than more traditional grimms.

Not all kids are scared of the dark and not all need bedtime stories. I think Nick relayed the story to Kelly when he was an adult. Why it took Nick 20 years to do so is anyone guess. It could be because the Zerstorer was Nick's own demon, and he never had the courage to relay the story until 20 years later.
