They seem to like fantasy and sci-fi shows.
Also, it seems the CW is a bit less influenced by ratings. Supernatural has never put up big numbers and they're almost certainly headed for season 12.
Unfortunately, I think Grimm is not just shown on NBC (some shows the network has the rights to show, it doesn't actually own, so if they cancel it another network can pick it up), but actually owned by it, so even if they cancelled it, I don't know that another network would be able to pick it up. I'm pretty sure I read this in an article about Grimm's ratings but don't quote me on it. I'll try to find the original article.

Since they introduced the HW plot, I've been thinking that they could easily siphon it off into a spin off involving Trubel/Meisner/Eve and then have Grimm continue with Nick and the scoobies. Unfortunately, if the ratings for a show are declining, it's very unlikely they'd give it a spin off unfortunately :/
Grimm would be a good fit for the CW, except I think it might be too "mature". That network seems to be aiming younger and younger.
It would be so great if Netflix took over the series because then we'd get an entire season in one go.
Netflix has picked up shows like Longmire which had strong followings and they've made shows like Hemlock Grove, which are similar to Grimm; so it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility.
I think it's mostly wishful thinking, but one never knows...
